Lip augmentation is known around the world for its ability to plump the lips so that they’re fuller, more sensual, and all together more attractive. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably seen someone who has undergone a lip augmentation, like your favorite celebrity, your neighbor next door, or one of your co-workers. And you might have thought that fuller lips would look great on you too. With its ability to boost your self-confidence, lip augmentation is easily one of the most sought-after treatments in the world.

What Is Lip Augmentation?

Lip augmentation is a minimally invasive procedure that can restore your lips to their natural fullness, or add volume to lips that are thin due to genetic traits, with the use of injectable fillers. These fillers are made of a hyaluronic gel that is injected through a small needle into precise locations on the lips. Filler gel is composed of hyaluronic acid, a compound that is found naturally inside the body and is responsible for keeping the skin and joints hydrated and supple.

At Peachstate Aesthetics we utilize VERSA+ for our lip augmentation. This product is known for  beautiful, safe, and reliable results.

What is VERSA?

The dermal filler VERSA, manufactured by the company Revanesse, is a hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal filler developed to smooth fine lines and wrinkles. It’s also capable of enhancing facial volume in other areas, such as the lips. While VERSA is comparable to other HA fillers like Restylane, there are some characteristics that set it apart.

The key factor that makes VERSA unique is its nearly non-existent post-injection swelling. VERSA has been shown to procedure 24% less swelling than competing fillers. Our physicians and patients love this product because of how it makes volume correction more precise and balanced, as they no longer need to account for swelling—especially when it comes to delicate areas like the lips.

VERSA also contains no animal products. It is free of any animal by-products and its biodegradable formula breaks down naturally in your body. It is manufactured in small batches with only the highest quality standards and ingredients.

What Are Dermal Fillers?

The benefits of dermal fillers go beyond enhancing the volume of the lips. Dermal fillers are widely known for their ability to add volume to facial features that have lost tissue and fat due to gravity and age. Dermal fillers can also help to smooth wrinkles due to collagen and elasticity loss in the skin and improve textural issues from years of past acne flare ups. With every year that passes, our bodies make less of the important skin structural proteins—collagen and elastin—that it needs to stay youthful and fresh. Dermal fillers help to replace these lost proteins and can help encourage your body to start producing more of them, so your skin can stay smooth and youthful longer.

Lip augmentations are safe for most patients, though they are not recommended for patients with any kind of compromising skin condition or bleeding disorder. You should also delay your treatments if you have a history of cold sores, fever blisters, or any type of eczema surrounding the lips.

What to Expect from Your Lip Augmentation Treatment

Before your treatment day, your physician will discuss treatment options with you and your specific aesthetic goals. Together, you will create a treatment plan that targets your individual needs and goals surrounding the look and feel of your lips. Our physicians will carefully consider every aspect of your anatomy and desired outcome.

After we develop a plan to achieve your ideal results, your expert physician will first mark the locations that are going to be targeted with dermal fillers around the lips. This will help to create visible symmetry so that the lips aren’t lopsided or overfilled.

An anesthetic cream may be applied to your lips to keep you more comfortable and relaxed for the injection. Finally, the appropriate amount of filler will be injected into the areas of the lips that require enhancement.

Your lips may appear puffy at first due to swelling and the filler not properly having a chance to settle. You’ll also need to grow accustomed to having fuller-looking lips, which can be a bit jarring at first. Just like a new haircut, you’ll grow more familiar with your new features with each passing day. Also, there’s no downtime associated with a lip augmentation, but you should refrain from strenuous activity for 24-48 hours to avoid any unintentional trauma to the lips.

FAQS: Lip Augmentation in Thomaston, GA

Lip fillers aren’t permanent. They slowly wear away over time, usually 6 to 12 months after you get them, depending on your metabolism. You may need routine touch-up treatments to maintain your desired volume.

The length of time a filler lasts is more dependent on the individual than the type of filler.  If you are very active, or pucker often, the filler will reabsorb more quickly.  Throw out your straws and don’t sign up for any kissing booths! If you are concerned about preserving your results, we can always add a toxin lip-flip to make it last longer.
Although over-done lips are a common fear, they are very easily avoided!  Make sure your doctor knows that you want natural results and you discuss your concerns. I have never had a single patient complain that they think their lips are “over-done” after filler.  Usually, my lip augmentations come back ready for more!

Severe allergic reactions to lip fillers are rare, but are still possible. If you have any concerns about the possibility of an allergic reaction, you should contact your doctor immediately.

As with any dermal fillers, there is always a risk of bruising, swelling, bleeding, pain, asymmetry, discoloration, or vascular compromise.  If you are concerned that you could be having a complication, you should contact your doctor immediately.
To preserve your results, make sure to avoid any pressure to your lips for the next 24-48 hours.  Drink plenty of water and gently apply an ice pack for up to 15 minutes every hour.  Avoid lipstick and straws.
You are free to eat as soon as your numbing agent has worn off completely.
